Jacques Rocher grew up around fabrication, learning the fundamentals in his father’s workshop in Namibia. After studying in Stellenbosch, South Africa, he returned home to support the family’s business, Rocher Construction, gaining practical experience in commercial development and project execution.

After relocating to Chicago, Jacques spent several years with Hammerwell Metal, where he led field operations and became familiar with the city’s unique construction standards and design preferences. These experiences eventually led him to start Modern Metals in 2022.

Now three years in, Jacques has built Modern Metals around a deep respect for craftsmanship and thoughtful design. His work ranges from entry gates and architectural doors to custom fireplaces—each piece guided by clean lines, durable materials, and attention to detail that reflects both his roots and the demands of modern fabrication. At the heart of every project is a collaborative, customer-focused process designed to bring each client’s vision to life.
